Instructions on setting up all features can be found at the bottom of this post.

As online marketing progresses – we’re finding more and more effective methods for capturing the fleeting attention of prospective clients. Pundits now suggest the best way to advertise online is with video, and we’ve seen this work wonders for real estate in the past. Take this risqué example, created by Mark Mason of Mason Plus Properties. It received almost 40,000 views on YouTube, the attention of some of the nation’s largest newspapers and sold the property under the hammer for well above the reserved price.

Apparently video marketing gets something right.

CISCO’s latest whitepaper on global Internet traffic has just predicted that consumer Internet video traffic will continue to rise into the future. Last year, video content made up 64% of all traffic, and that figure is expected to grow to 80% by 2019.

That’s why you’ve got the option to start your own video marketing campaigns on your website.

Dedicated videos page

You have the option to add a dedicated Videos Page to your website.

You can feed videos from YouTube here. Visitors are able scroll through (and watch) all your videos – whether they be listing tours, market updates, etc – from your website.

Check out a live example.

Featured Videos

If you’d like to direct attention towards video, you can feature it. Featured videos are larger and remain at the top of the page.

There are three options for featuring videos:

  • No featured video: Choose this option if you do not wish to have a featured video
  • Latest from your channel: This option features your most recently uploaded video, larger and across the top of the screen. This is the best option for agencies that regularly upload video tours of listings.
  • Choose your own featured video: This permanently features a video of your choosing. This option is great if, for example, you have an agency advertisement.

Staff and agency profiles

Agents might like to show off their listing videos on their profiles, so there’s space for them to do so. Likewise, you can pop some videos on your agency profile too. Here’s Larry to demonstrate.

Because we have a lot to fit in on a staff or agency profile, we’ll only show three videos – however, if you have more than three, the rest are available with a click.

As with your Videos Page – staff and agency profiles also come with featured video functionality, almost identical to the Videos Page.

Using YouTube

We use YouTube to power the videos so users on all devices will have no difficulty viewing them through your website. As such, all videos need to be first uploaded to YouTube.

If you don’t have a YouTube Channel for your agency – it’s easy to set one up. Once you’ve linked this channel to your website through WordPress (we’ll show you how later on) all videos you upload to YouTube will automatically appear on your website.

Of course, it’s responsive

The Videos Page – and all videos throughout the website – automatically resize and reorganise to fit the screen any device. YouTube will also allow visitors to view videos through your website on any device.

How-to

Set up a YouTube channel

Instructions on setting up a channel – straight from the horse’s mouth – can be found here. Please note that a YouTube account and a YouTube channel are two different things. Once your channel is set up, it’s easy to start uploading videos. Please also remember to upload thumbnails to each of your videos.

Note: Agents that would like their own videos on their staff profiles need to set up their own YouTube Channel. However, their videos should also be uploaded to the agency YouTube Channel in order to have them appear on the Videos Page.
